Brand Development
Zimzala is a new boutique women's surfwear label based off the world famous surf spot Kirra Beach in Queensland Australia. Zimzala's meaning is "One who finds peace between their toes". This became the driver for the brand as it is something that every surfer or beach lover can strongly relate to.
To create the brand we drew reference from their point of difference – a unique range that is designer inspired. A custom designed type face to represent the core atributes of the Zimzala brand – Boutique, sophisticated and stylish yet friendly and retains a surf/beach lifestyle look and feel. The mark itself is free-flowing and spirited capturing the vibe of a tropical location where one may find peace with sand between their toes. The attitude is one which inspires a stress-free and relaxed lifestyle.
The brand is supported by a simple colour palette to ensure that the brand has freshness, impact and appeals to a female audience. The combination of watermelon and warm gray ensures that it can be easily identified while also reducing costs at the printing and production stage.
The end result is a brand that encapsulates the boutique offering of Zimzala's fashion products by marrying it with a look that undoubtedly captures the essence of beach and surf culture while also having mass appeal to wide and varied female market. The brand aims to sell the lifestyle not just the product, creating the right perceptions and ultimately driving sales.
